Flea and Tick Awareness Month:

• Since we did not have a winter or freeze occur, the fleas and ticks will be very bad this year!
• There are over 2,200 flea species and 850 tick species worldwide.
• Ticks feed on mammals, which include humans.
• Adult fleas lay 50 eggs per day and ticks lay 10,000 eggs at one time.
• Cat fleas are not host specific, therefore they can feed on ANY host, including humans.
• Ticks can survive on animals and in the environment year around.
• Fleas can eat 15 times their body weight.
• Ticks can carry many diseases, such as Lymes disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.  These are not only harmful to your pets but to you as well!
